Life Is Always Interesting In Nicaragua

It seems everyday brings new challenges and blessings, and the Lord proves Himself real and faithful through them all. My wife and four daughters just returned to Nicaragua after being stateside for many months. It’s so good to have them back and be a whole family again. Chris is doing well and able to manage her pain now. We are so grateful to so many of you who stood with our family through Chris’ recovery from spine surgery. God is faithful!

Everything in our lives and ministry is in transition right now. Our oldest son, Brad, was recently married to the girl of his dreams. Welcome to our family, Jennifer Parks O’Sullivan! Abram, is moving to Calgary in a few weeks. He was recently hired to dance for the Alberta Ballet Company. Our youngest son, Jacob, is moving back to South Carolina after living in California the past two years. Our re-nutrition center and orphanage is in now partnering with local pastors and churches to identify at risk and malnourished children in communities all around us. We are super excited about this change because this will allow us to more effectively address the orphan crisis on the front side of the problem and give us the opportunity to strengthen families and point them to Christ. We expect the first twenty-five children to begin the program in August. We will continue to care for children on a long-term basis as the need requires. God is faithful!

Our partnership with Pastor’s Carlos and Zulema and Casa Del Rey Church in Cristo Rey continues to grow stronger. We’ve recently expanded the discipleship and feeding programs to four days a week. The micro-enterprises are sustainable and always teaching young and old alike the skills they need to provide for their families. This year, New Life and our partners, have been able to bless the church with a new concrete floor and roof extensions to keep the rain out. Our goal is to have the front of the church finished and painted by the end of the year, plus whatever else the Lord provides for. Our little ministry continues to be a home building machine with over 228 homes built for the poor. Looking back at our five years of ministry in this community—we’ve made a difference! To God be the glory!

We want to thank and bless our summer interns, Jeffrey, Jackie, Deja, Amy and Hannah for all their help and hard work these past few weeks. We love you guys and wish you God’s very best. They are amazing young people with bright futures ahead of them.

We also want to acknowledge the hard work of our many teams this summer. You guys have blessed us as a family and ministry. You have cleaned, painted, organized, made curtains, repaired sewing machines and computers, bought playground equipment, played baseball, made improvements to a church, painted nails, cut hair, bought kitchen equipment, served meals, served in discipleship classes, hosted watermelon eating contests, washed feet, clothed the poor, bought medicine, prayed for the sick, visited the poor in their homes, built homes for the poor and led people to Christ, and it’s just July. We have eleven more teams through November. We are so grateful for all who sacrifice to come and bless Nicaragua.

In May, A Cause for Tea, held their first ever charity event for New Life Nicaragua. So many talented people gave of their time and effort to make sure the event was a success. A significant amount of money was raised that will help us make a down-payment to purchase land for our future ministry campus. Many thanks to Macon & Rhonda Griffin and the entire board of ACT and all the donors who’s generosity has put us one step closer to our dream! We love and appreciate you more than you will ever know. We thought you might also enjoy an excellent video produced by ACT that highlights the adoption of a child from our orphanage. When you're finished watching the video do us a favor and LIKE their facebook page.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who supports our family and New Life in prayer. The path we’ve chosen is a difficult one. You notes of encouragement mean so much to Chris and I! Also, many thanks for trusting us with your financial support. Many lives have been saved and changed over the years and it’s all because you were faithful to do what the Lord put on your heart to do.  If the Lord has blessed you and you could help us right now we would really appreciate your help with a love offering. Chris and I love you with all our hearts. Live well!
